Girls´Day at MD ELEKTRONIK in Waldkraiburg

Encouraging girls and young women to explore professions in science and technology – this is the objective of the nationwide Girls' Day – future prospects for girls.  The MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH also supports this initiative. End of April, MD welcomed young female students in order to present technical professions in the automotive industry in a vivid manner.

After the welcome by the MD trainers, the girls and young women gained an interesting insight into several areas of activities and professional fields during the company tour. Then, the students could show their manual skills in various departments: While building their own Mill Board Game with pieces, the girls practiced milling, drilling and lowering in the tooling and equipment department. In the accredited MD test lab, the young visitors assembled and damaged cables. Afterwards, they examined these cables using x-ray testing.

At the end of this eventful day, each of the girls was presented with a small gift. The students exchanged their newly gained experiences and impressions during a feedback discussion. "All participants were enthusiastic and could imagine a future career within the science or technology sector", stated Karin Rückerl, HR Consultant Apprenticeships at MD, who was very satisfied with the successful Girls´ Day at MD.

The Girls' Day is the largest vocational orientation project for girls and young women in Germany. Since the beginning of this initiative in 2001, over 1.5 millions girls have participated. Since 2011, the MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH has supported this program within the framework of its partnership with regional schools and educational institutions.
