MD establishes a new plant in Mexico

Topping out ceremony in the presence of numerous guests

The production network of MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH will gain an additional location: in order to expand the presence in the NAFTA area, the automotive supplier will open a plant in Leon, the federal state of Guanajuato, Mexico. From the middle of 2016, production will commence at the 38,000 m² site. During the building phase, the topping out ceremony took place in October 2015, in the presence of numerous guests from politics, commerce and the automotive industry as well as of the Mexican and world-wide General Management of MD.

Ralph Breidenstein, General Manager of MD Mexico, opened the ceremony and informed the audience about the building progress and future challenges for the location and in the NAFTA area. Ctibor Zizka, General Manager Technology and Operations MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH, also gave a speech in which he expressed his confidence regarding the further expansion of the MD Group.

After several representatives of the city of Leon and the federal state of Guanajuato had given their speeches, the metal construction was blessed by a priest. The guests subsequently had the opportunity to exchange information about future projects during a small reception in a pleasant atmosphere. Robert Hofmann, General Manager Development and Logistics MD ELEKTRONIK GmbH concluded: “The construction of the new plant in Mexico is progressing according to schedule. We are looking optimistically to the future”.

The topping out ceremony of the location in Leon was an appropriate start and sets a further milestone in the development of the MD Group.
