The potentials of intelligent on-board cabling

MD ELEKTRONIK at the international on-board power system congress in Ludwigsburg

How will the future of automotive on-board power systems look? Which requirements and mega trends are to be expected? These and many other questions were the topics of the fourth international congress "On-board power systems in vehicles" which took place on the 8th and 9th March 2016 in Ludwigsburg (Germany). Besides numerous presentations from top-level speakers of the automotive industry, MD also presented its "Potentials of intelligent on-board cabling" within the framework of the event.

In his presentation, Dr. Alexander Haas, Director Test & Research, explained the additional value of the functionally integrated MD cables. Besides important influencing factors such as cost reduction and an increase in flexibility, a better data quality and an authentication of the components are possible thanks to this innovation. "As a strong partner we consider the entire process up to the end customer service", stated Dr. Haas.

The example USB 3.1 Type C shows the potential of these intelligent cables.  "More compact and faster with improved performance and greater functionality" - these are the advantages of this application.

The presentation of the technological requirements in processing and the different connection variations completed the interesting presentation and enabled the expert audience to gain valuable insights into the service portfolio of the automotive supplier from Waldkraiburg. Dr. Alexander Haas was pleased with the response: "Our presentation was very well received and we got a lot of positive feedback."

The congress offers not only numerous expert presentations but also the opportunity to discuss and network with OEMs and system suppliers. "our participation at this international congress was once again a great success and I hope that we will be invited back to Ludwigsburg in 2017", concluded Gerd Mittermaier, Vice President Research & Development.
